Recess

Children at Royal School have two 15-minute recess breaks per day:

* 10:30-10:45 am

* 2:20-2:35 pm

All students deserve a safe, fun, and healthy recess experience. Some of the basic expectations at Royal School during recess are:

• Hands and feet to yourself - no physical hits
• Respectful behaviour towards all students and adults
• Kind and polite language - no verbal hits
• Follow the directions of the adult on duty
• Include everyone

From time to time parents request us to excuse their child from recess or due to illness. We would ask that you make requests by contacting the school principal. Although there are valid reasons when participation is not possible, e.g. a broken limb, we strongly believe that recess activity and fresh air are a part of a healthy lifestyle and would ask that parents support this by ensuring their children wear adequate clothing to school. Generally speaking, if a child is not well enough to participate in recess, they are best to be resting at home.
